Ethics, Training Supervision, Developing Proficiency Trauma (3 CEU hours)

This three-hour session includes an introduction to the rule and terminology for Training Supervisor Designation in the ethics code. Content includes how ethics might be addressed in training supervision with an individual or group. Participants will discuss the terminology in the rule and aspects of the process for Training Supervision. The third section will use Trauma as an example of content and practice of developing proficiency.

Learning Objectives

1.Participants will have awareness of aspects of Ohio Law in the professional ethics code through review of code and ethics terminology generally and specific to  “S” designation for training supervision focused on developing proficiency of professionals gaining an  independent license to practice.    

2. Participants will understand the practice of training supervision and be able to articulate elements of the training supervision rule as it applies to practice as defined by 4357-23-01 and 4757-3-01 of the OCSWMFTB Code of Ethics.

3.Participants will understand  and be able to articulate the elements developing proficiency through specific practice in Trauma and use of Trauma  Sensitive and Trauma Informed Care as an example of approach to frame practice and which provides a lens through which to identify proficiency  as defined by the profession which could be developed by the supervisor and the trainee to improve services to clients.

4. Participants will practice developing a  professional development  plan for self and with trainee in trauma area to provide effective training supervision to enhance proficiencies .  

Presented by Carol Brown, LPCC-S, LISW-S

Carol Brown is licensed in Ohio as a LPCC with Supervisor Designation and a LISW with Supervisor Designation.   Carol has over 30 years of experience working with Richland County Children Services and then with private providers of Residential, Therapeutic Foster Care, Adult and Children’s Mental Health Services.  Trained in Group Therapy and Family Therapy, Carol acknowledges she is a life long learner who has sought to integrate numerous proficiencies to aid in effective interventions with adults, children, families and staff. Carol is also an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher E-RYT 500 with other yoga certifications, including Subtle ®Yoga 40 hour online Certified Yoga Teacher.  Since the Pandemic, Carol has learned new platforms to teach yoga classes and takes weekly classes on yoga, trauma, neuroscience, and neuroplasticity (the brain’s capacity to change). She is currently focused on how to change the brain to create greater resilience.

Introduction

Note about which licensing requirements these hours qualify to meet:
·         1 hour content for licensed social workers to get general CEUs by practicing how to develop a plan with a trainee to develop proficiency (knowledge, skill, practice competence) in Trauma and Trauma Interventions
·         1 CEU hour for ongoing Ethics requirements for Social workers or 
·         1 CEU hour for ongoing Supervision requirements for Social Worker Supervisors 
·         Content for those who want hours towards become a Social Work Supervisor or those who want to become Training Supervisors.
