Advocating In The Schools: Helping Children Who Have Experienced Trauma (Foster Parents Tool Talk® Series)

  • Course
  • 5 Lessons

Children can spend between 30 to 40 hours a week at school. Teachers and the education system have a great impact on children who have been placed in out-of-home care.  As caregivers, it is important to know how to be an advocate in the school and be aware of the impact that trauma has on a child’s ability to learn.  Working as a team and disarming fear caused by trauma will have a lasting impact on the resiliency of the child.  We will be creating an action plan to communicate with schools in order to set your child up for success.
