Children coming into care need loving, caring substitute parents who will help them feel safe, protected, loved, and accepted. Trust, bonding, attachment are the foundation not only for their development but for healing their trauma. Yet every foster parent knows they might have to separate if the child is reunified with their birth families. So when children must return home, it can be very difficult grief to work through.
