Cooperation with Child Protective Service Agencies is required of all parents. Sometimes, parents disagree with policies or decisions made by Child Protective Services Agencies and do not know where to turn for help. 

Understanding the Legal Framework of Child Protection Service Agencies will provide Parents: 
  1. help to understand the child welfare system; 
  2. aid in required compliance in dealing with Child Protective Service Agencies; & 
  3. know how to best advocate for the child(ren) involved. 

Complete this Course and You Will:

  • Better understand the legal framework of state child protective services agencies from an experienced child welfare attorney.
  • Walk away with a basic understanding of the legal rights of biological parents and how those rights are affected by the laws that give states the right to intervene in order to protect a child.
  • Learn the legal requirements upon a state, once it has intervened, to the biological parents and to the child.
  • Find out why it is important to have an understanding of what the state is required to do as well as the legal rights of biological parents and the child.

All professions would benefit from an understanding of the legal system and the requirements of a Child Protective Services Agency. SW/LISW, Counselors/LPC/LPCC, Nurses, and Psychologists would obtain knowledge beneficial to their roles in assisting, treating, counseling, and servicing individuals and/or families involved with Child Protective Services Agencies and/or the Child Welfare System.

SW/LISW, Counselors/LPC/LPCC, Nurses, and Psychologists are mandatory reporters. This program also discusses the protocol of Child Protective Services Agencies when reports are received by mandatory reporters.

Meet Margaret (“Peggy”) Replogle, Esq.

Peggy Replogle is an Ohio Attorney; licensed since 1998. She is licensed to appear in all Courts in Ohio, Federal Courts, and the Supreme Court of the United States. She was approved in Ohio in 2006 as a Guardian Ad Litem. Peggy is also a professionally trained coach and presenter. She presents trainings throughout the State of Ohio and provides Divorce Coaching throughout the United States. 

Peggy’s interaction and relationship with the child welfare system is extensive. As an Attorney and Guardian Ad Litem, she has interacted with abused, neglected, and dependent children, their families, and caregivers in all stages of the child welfare system. She has provided legal representation (as an Attorney) and interviewed/interacted (as a Guardian Ad Litem) with children, mothers, fathers, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and foster parents involved in the child welfare system. Peggy is well versed in Ohio law and procedure specific to child welfare law.
