Meet a Parents Toolshop® Coach

Deanna has a Masters in Counseling, a Bachelors in Political Science, and pre law dual major in Psychology. She is very educated and has a passion for serving others.

Before finding Parents Toolshop® she had worked with children and families as a counselor for 12 years. She always had the trouble of families bringing in the “identified patient” (the kid acting up) and saying, “Here’s the kid. You fix him up. Leave me alone, I’m out of here.” Even the few times (out of the 100’s of families she worked with) when she had parents who actually wanted to be involved and part of the therapy, Deanna never had an effective, reliable system to share with them. She only had her theory & philosophies. She did not have the practical information, tools or words that she could help them with when they were back in their own homes so they could handle situations as they came up.

That was before she took the Parents Toolshop® Advanced T.I.P.S. course, to use the coaching in her practice.

STEP 1. Graduate from the Advanced TIPS Course

Complete the training and post-test on time, score 9+ on parenting skill assessment, and become familiar with Parents Toolshop® resources (You get lifetime access as long as you are an Active DSP!)

STEP 2: Complete Parent Advisor / Coach Certification Training

Complete this quick, 5-lesson training with observation and real-life practice. You will learn how to conduct 4 types of coaching:

Group Coaching
Personalized Problem Solving using the UB®
1:1 Coaching
Strategy Sessions

Then you can be any or all of the following:

Private Parent Coach.
Group Coach (on calls/webinars) for on-line Parents Toolshop® classes and to conduct Graduate support groups (live or online).
Content Contributor for new parenting-niche-specific resources
Moderator of a niche-specific Facebook discussion group

BOTH of the programs above are

Approved for Continuing Education Hours

for Social Workers, Counselors

The programs above have been approved for Continuing Education hours for Social Work & Counselor CEU hours by the State of Ohio Counselor Social Worker and Marriage & Family Therapist Board (Approved Provider number: RSX012201). Specifically:

T.I.P.S. (Tools for Improving Parenting Success) is approved for 30 hours
Parents Toolshop Advisor (Coach) Certification is approved for 12 hours.

Not in Ohio, an Ohio Nurse, or a Foster-Adoptive Parent? The certificate and hours you receive are usually approved or accepted by many other licensing boards. Please check with your own board or caseworker to verify if they accept them.

Once Certified, You Will Qualify for a Classification:

All Parents Toolshop® Advisor trainees receive the exact same training, then their Classification determines the type of coaching they can offer. Classifications are based on the Advisor's professional training, license, and experience.

Level I: RTTI Advisor (I have no other training in coaching or working 1:1 with clients other than what I will receive from the Toolshop® Advisor Certification Program.
Level II: Certified Coach (I am a Certified Coach who has received training and certification from an organization other than RTTI.)
Level III: Licensed/Certified Family Professional (I am a CFLE, LSW, or other credentialed or licensed professional who can’t provide diagnostic or clinical services.)
Level IV: Licensed Independent Practitioner. (I am a Therapist, MFT, PhD., Psychologist, LPCC, LISW, LCSW, etc. who can provide diagnostic or clinical services).

Agency Advisor

Provide coaching that uses the Parents Toolshop® Universal Blueprint® System only through your agency, as a volunteer or employee.

Services are offered free-of-charge or at usual fee set by your agency. Your certification does not follow you if you leave that agency.
You cannot provide Parents Toolshop® coaching outside your job.
Parents Toolshop® does not refer clients to you; you serve your own clients.
You are paid as an agency employee (or volunteer) for your coaching services.

Offer local in-person or online coaching, representing Parents Toolshop®
If Parents Toolshop® gets a coaching request, you may be matched to it. You are part of the Parents Toolshop® Leader Team
Can use/leverage existing Parents Toolshop® website & e-commerce to coach on-line Parents Toolshop® courses
RTITI provides professional liability insurance (annual fee for renewal)

Independent Advisor

Provide coaching that uses the Parents Toolshop® Universal Blueprint® System only through your own private company.

May offer local, in-person or online fee-based coaching, wetting your own fees.
You serve your own clients; Parents Toolshop® does not refer clients to you.
Display Parents Toolshop® branding in addition to yours, as a "Certified PT Coach"
Can offer coaching for LIVE Parents Toolshop® courses you offer through your company. (GF certification required.)
Advisor obtains own professional liability insurance.
Minimum performance standards or pays $47/mo.
