Child Sexual Abuse: Prevention is Possible

Understanding child sexual abuse is crucial for protecting the children we love. This session will cover what child sexual abuse is, who the abusers are, and the prevalence of the issue. It will also review child sexual development, helping us identify problematic and potentially abusive behavior early by understanding what is healthy. We will discuss grooming and red flag behaviors to recognize when grooming is occurring, as it is a common strategy used by abusers. By understanding these signs, we may be able to prevent child sexual abuse altogether. Additionally, we will review the signs and long-term consequences of abuse. The session will conclude with powerful strategies for adults to keep children safe from sexual abuse and protective measures we can teach children, along with a review of available resources.
