3 Trainer Certification Steps

To train caregivers of children with a trauma history requires advanced knowledge and skills. As a trainer, you also need to know how to convey these complex concepts in engaging edu-taining ways. So the trainer certification process involves the following steps:
  1. Graduate from a comprehensive Foster-Adoptive Parents Toolshop® training series (live or online) that teaches the entire Universal Blueprint® for [Foster-Adoptive] Parenting Success, completing any related assignments.
  2. STEP 2: Apply for Certification. When you are approved, you can attend our Leader Certification trainings, including:
    1. Parents Toolshop® Advisor Training to USE the Universal Blueprint® to coach and ...
    2. Foster-Adoptive Parents Toolshop Trainer Certification, to use and model the UB® it while you TEACH it and trauma-informed tools to your workshop attendees.
  3.  STEP 3: After Certification, you will complete PROBATIONARY PERFORMANCE requirements, while reviewing some key FAPToolshop® resources, you can share, recommend or teach to the foster-adoptive parents you train.

Once you've met these requirements, you receive your final certification and stay active by meeting minimum performance requirements that help keep your skills sharp.
This free course explains these steps and provides some previews of the application and pre-certification training package, which has step-by-step checklists for each step.

Summary of FAPToolshop® Leader Certification Steps. Use Links to PREVIEW Pre-requisite Course(s)

STEP 1. COMPLETE the Foster-Adoptive Parents Toolshop® (FAPT) Leader Pre-Certification training process, meeting all submission/scoring requirements.
  • You must obviously attend and graduate from at least one of the courses you will be teaching! How else would you know you want to teach it? So the "pre-certification" courses familiarize you with The Universal Blueprint® system, our innovative proprietary parenting plan that only Certified Toolshop® Group Facilitators can teach to others.
  • All Leader Applicants must graduate from a comprehensive “core” UB® training program. The minimum requirement for Foster-Adoptive Parents Toolshop® Leaders is the 18-hour "FAPT Basic T.I.P.S. Series," but you can also complete the 40-hour Advanced series. You may also attend one of those series as a live class taught by any Certified FAPT GF or the online course. In order to qualify to apply for trainer certification, you must:
    • Do a pre-class skill assessment before you start any UB® course. This assessment questionnaire is included in the FAPT TIPS4Leaders Basic TIPS Course.
    • You can add-on personalized support during your Basic or Advanced TIPS course, either group support coaching or private coaching.
    • After completing all pre-certification training requirements, you will do a post-class skill assessment. If you score a 9+ out of 11 points you may take the next step.

STEP 2: Apply for Certification. When you are approved, you can attend the FAPT Leader Certification training, which includes:
    1. Parents Toolshop® Advisor Training to USE the Universal Blueprint® to coach foster-adoptive parents and kinship caregivers ... and ...
    2. Foster-Adoptive Parents Toolshop Trainer Certification, to use and model the UB® it while you TEACH it and the trauma-informed tools that are part of the dozens of workshop presentations you will get access to.

STEP 3: After Certification, you will complete PROBATIONARY PERFORMANCE requirements, while reviewing some key
FAPToolshop® resources, you can share, recommend or teach to the foster-adoptive parents you train.

Once you've met these requirements, you receive your final certification and stay active by meeting minimum performance requirements that help keep your skills sharp. If your license lapses by becoming inactive, you will lose access to all the trainer resources and certification courses, but none of the courses or resources available to the non-trainer public.
