The Nature of Privilege

Tuesday, June 13, 2023 for 1 hour, starting at 12 noon Eastern / 11 CST / 10 MST / 9 PST

Privilege and dominant status may operate in an individual, family, or circumstance, yet is outside of conscious awareness. Privilege may be taken for granted as the natural way of things. Concepts to be discussed include: unconscious privilege, assumptions, dominant status, internalized oppression, fragility, bias, and discrimination. Learn to recognize when privilege is operating to disempower others and how to shift the dynamic toward equitable outcomes. Watch a video where teens learn about privilege in the "$100 Race and leave with a better understanding of how privilege impacts children.
