Parents Toolshop® Class Terms & Conditions

For Course Trainees

Introduction

We have unfortunately had past trainees take what they learned in our copyright-protected classes, including proprietary content that is trademark-registered, and use it to create “confusingly similar” programs. They haven’t ethically cited their source, nor received permission from the author, and have presented teachings unique to Parents Toolshop® as though they conceived, created, developed, and tested them (as we have). (One even made tens of millions of dollars from this stolen content and didn’t share a cent – but that’s not the point or principle of this policy!) We have spent our decades-long careers developing and testing what we teach others, so we simply ask others to respect our intellectual property.

The Parents Toolshop proprietary system and the way we teach our classes is key to our brand and what sets us apart. So we are asking anyone who learns it to simply use it for your own learning and benefit, applying it to your own family and relationships. Taking the class does not grant a license to own the content or teach it to others. We’ve seen people try to teach the class and its content and, despite their good intentions, they misrepresent our teachings or have sub-standard teaching practices that our leader training prevents, which give Parents Toolshop® a bad reputation. This is why we ask anyone who wants to teach it to get certified as an approved trainer/group facilitator, or who wants to use our proprietary problem-solving system for coaching to receive our Advisor/Coach certification.

  • Ownership: Having access to the course or copyrighted content shall not be construed as having any rights by license or otherwise to own the information.

  • Rights: Purchasing or accessing the course does not grant any right to share, distribute, duplicate, to develop, or have a third party develop a competing or similar product.

  • Sharing: You may not duplicate/copy what you receive or distribute it to others, particularly groups of parents, without permission. (Submit a Permission to Reprint Request form for that.) Feel free to share the results of what you learned or tell any stories about how you used it, just don’t teach our secret-sauce system, or use it to coach others. Okie-doke!?

  • The terms of this agreement and related expectations go into effect from the date/time this “lesson” is marked “complete” as a signal of your agreement to the terms and only expires if the course ceases to exist. Any terms that a court of competent jurisdiction deems to be invalid or unenforceable shall not negate or invalidate all the remaining terms.

By continuing in this class and marking this lesson “complete” you are agreeing to honor our intellectual property rights and discuss with the author any non-personal use of what you learn.

If you don’t agree with any of these terms, you may request a refund for this course before starting it. Your account will be deleted and banned, as it would be for any breach of this agreement.

If you agree to all these terms to honor our intellectual property rights and discuss with the author any non-personal use of what you learn, then click “complete” on this lesson and let’s begin! If you don't mark the lesson complete and continue to access the materials and/or attend live sessions, it is an implied agreement to the terms.

FAQS About Our Courses.

Unless you see a policy otherwise stated elsewhere, these apply to all Toolshop® courses that are 10+ hours long.

  • Access/Account: In this course, you will be creating an account on our learning platform where you will receive copyrighted material such as handouts, books, videos, and access to bonus resources. You may share your login credentials or show what you’ve received with your parenting partners to improve your co-parenting.

  • Attendance:

    • In Live classes, in person or online, we track attendance, and you will get credit for the number of hours you both attended and participated.

    • In courses with a series of sessions that teach the Universal Blueprint® GPS (Guide to Parenting Success) System, you must attend one of the first two sessions, before or including the class on the UB system. The class often closes after the UB session because it’s too hard to bring people up to speed if they miss it. If you attend the first session, you may make up the UB session if it was recorded. You must do so by the next session so you will understand the rest of the class when we discuss the system and build on what has been taught.

  • To Graduate:

    • To graduate, you just need to attend and participate in at least 75% of the scheduled hours. (i.e. at least 7.5 of 10 hours, at least 9 of 12 hours, etc.)

    • All “graduates” are eligible for the lifetime benefits Parents Toolshop® offers. As long as I’m around or someone has taken on the legacy management of the learning library, you will have access for your lifetime.

  • Certificates. If you want a completion certificate for this course, please make sure the name on the account matches what you want on your certificate.

    • Automated certificates are provided for independent study courses. The system can only give one certificate per account. It can’t track progress for multiple students.

    • Live courses issue certificates manually. Just submit any post-class materials, such as a post-test and program evaluation form.

    • Continuing Education Units. If you need a continuing education certificate with special approval terminology to show it’s been approved by your state licensure board, you will also need to:

      • Not miss more than 15 minutes of any individual session.

      • Stay on camera or active in the chat on webinars, to show participation.

      • Submit a CEU evaluation certificate. Then your certificate will be manually generated and sent to you. If you are licensed through OCSWMFT board, we’ll upload your credits to CEBroker, too.
